Yes, ATSes can automatically filter resumes, but that does not mean every company uses them the same way or that every rejection is fully automated.
Some systems can screen for knockout questions, missing requirements, location, work authorization, or keyword matches. Recruiters can also apply filters manually after resumes enter the system.
A safe assumption is that your resume may be searched, filtered, or ranked before a deep human review. It doesn't have to be, but it can. That is why job-relevant wording, accurate skills, and clear structure matter so much.
