Should I Use AI to Write My Resume?
Can you reliably trust an AI to do everything by itself?
No, while AI can be great at telling you what is missing from a resume, it may not be ideal at expressing it in a human way.
LLMs tend to use a lot of corporate speak that tires recruiters out without saying anything useful.
LLMs may also be overly optimistic in filling your resume with things you can't defend in an interview. That's a situation that can end an interview really fast.
LLMs may also be dismissive of things they may find irrelevant but that you find to be highlights of your career. You need to make those calls for yourself, so that your resume doesn't sound like everyone else's.
They can, however, do minor tailoring changes to your base resume, but even so, the output should always be verified by you.
AI is a tool, but use it wisely. In the end, you're the one responsible for what your resume says, and you're the one who needs a job, not the AI. Do your part of the effort to ensure the image you paint of yourself isn't sloppy.
